Cathedral-like roof on the A2 tunnel
Together with the train station and the Park & Ride, the Bus Terminal Leidsche Rijn Centrum forms the public transportation system in Leidsche Rijn Centrum. Its geometric shape at the head of the Berlijnplein facilitates a natural integration into the context, while its pillars co-define the streetscape of the Paris Boulevard and make it visible from the A2. The roof of the bus terminal is located on the A2 tunnel and the Stadsbaantunnel. Because of the lightweight design, 10 identical chalices allow for a cathedral-like building covering the A2 tunnel. The elegant construction marks the main bus station of Leidsche Rijn and ensures a high quality roof over of the detached Bus rapid transit connection.
The Bus Terminal LRC is a cooperation between Jo Coenen Architects & Urbanist and Annebregje Snijders of AnnA. The completion of Bus Terminal Leidsche Rijn Centrum is expected in January 2018
